At the exit of the Gorges of the Verdon, the lake of sainte Croix forms an extent on approximately 10 km with a width of 3 km.

It is vastest lakes of the Regional Park with a surface of 2 200 ha (like the Annecy Lake)

Its banks were arranged in beaches, in particular in Salles sur Verdon with, in summer, a beach supervised by swimming teachers. A nautical center is also at the disposal of the visitors. The course of the lake is attended as well by the canoës,the kayaks, the pedal boats, windsurf and the sailing boats.

The shore in Salles sur Verdon is in soft slope and allows a very pleasant bathe, under the poplars or the oaks, in a turquoise water (the Verdon holds its name of its splendid color green turquoise). The temperature of water is identical that the Mediterranean sea.
